In January 2001 Tony & Kirsty Pidgeon invited Richard Twinch to visit their recently-purchased farmhouse on the edge of the green at Goosey - a small village in the Vale of the White Horse near Faringdon, Oxfordshire.   The proposals included restoring the original farmhouse and restructuring the 1980s extension to allow a new entrance hall and central staircase. The rear outbuildings were extended upwards and a conservatory that looks out into the countryside was added.

The old farmhouse was brick built in 1857, with a tiled roof. To the rear there were a series of unattractive and badly built outbuildings and a double garage, which had the only good view of the fields beyond. The aim was to create a more spacious design that matched and enhanced the old building.   The master bedroom now has the fine panorama over the fields and wherever  possible long views have been opened up and light brought in through conservation rooflights. Extensive underfloor heating and a sophisticated lighting system also make the building very energy efficient.
