Lime Walk: Street Elevation

Before   After

The front view was designed to use matching yellow stock bricks and sash window with slated roof that merges into the existing at the rear (see roof construction).

The main strategic move was to extend sideways, into the space occupied by the prefabricated garage, which was largely used for storage, and backwards into the north-facing courtyard.

Permissions had to be granted by the neighbour and by the planning authorities. These are both with regard to light and to ‘The Party Wall Act 1996’, which requires agreement between neighbours over shared walls, or new foundations, which may have an effect on neighbouring properties - as in this case. See Practice.
