3D Computer Model
Recent developments have brought heat-sensitive cameras into the architect's tool kit - rather like computer appeared 30 years ago. They are immensely powerful tools to examine the heat loss from constructions as well as locate leaks, trace heating pipes and identify the causes of condensation. Richard Twinch uses an industry standard FLIR thermographic camera both to identify problems and also to check whether insulation has been fitted correctly. Individual one-off reports are also prepared.
Building Regulation Changes

Since October 2010 we all now have to reduce the carbon emissions by 25% over the 2006 standards. This target will be reduced over the next 5 years to a notional 'zero carbon' standard. The effect of this is to add more insulation to the roof, wall, and floor - so we are looking at thicker constructions - see example. The new regulations also require householders to improve insulation as part of any refurbishment of existing elements (wall, roof, floor).

Workshops for Low Carbon Groups

Richard Twinch has been giving workshops for low-carbon groups around Oxfordshire on 'How to Insulate your House' including Abingdon, Wallingford, Wantage, Eynsham and also on behalf of Oxford City Council & Oxford University
